I had an awesome time teaching this weeks beginner watercolor class at Maple Grange park for the Vernon Senior Center and Vernon Township Recreation! The first portion of class was spent learning about mixing colors using the color wheel. This is also a fun way to experiment with new colors so that you can see the range of tones that can be created from a limited palette.

Masterson Aqua-Pro Watercolor Palette - 16" x 12" x 1-3/4" on Blick Art Material
During our second half, the class had a chance to put those newly acquired techniques to use, by creating their own watercolor versions of these beautiful sunflowers donated by Highland Flowers & Gifts for our morning program. They were the star attraction as our still life focal point, right in the middle of the tables and the individual flowers went home with some of our participants.
I would like to thank everyone who came out to participate in the class and to extend a big thank you to Jane for all of her help setting up.
Be sure to stay tuned for information about the next upcoming art classes and follow along with whats new on our social media art pages! These pages are different from the Nicole_Christian_Co social media pages, as they primarily focus on fine art and teaching so be sure to follow these as well!
What would you like to see as our next class theme? Leave it in the comments!
